How to Create a Landing Page for 30% More Leads

landing page

Landing pages are the lifeblood of any marketing strategy

Here is all you need to know about landing pages: how to create and optimize them and what you should avoid doing at all costs.

Landing pages are the lifeblood of any marketing strategy, and they can be really powerful if done right! They’re also a great tool for A/B testing because there’s only one place the user can go when they click on them

You should make the user’s task on the squeeze pages clear. Otherwise, readers may get confused and leave the page.

The first step to creating a landing page is understanding the goals of the landing page and what you want your user to do (e.g., click on something).

But creating a web page is easier said than done! You want to spend enough time on the page’s design, which includes copywriting. A squeeze page must be well-designed, easy to navigate, aesthetically pleasing, and have a high-quality copy.

It is very important not to make these errors when creating a landing page—bad design has nothing to do with how it looks or how pretty it is. Bad design means that the website isn’t user-friendly or the headline will not convert.

The first step to creating a landing page.

Landing pages are generally single web pages that contain little or no distractions. The purpose of the page should be to get the user to act (e.g., click on something).

The action you want your users to take can vary; however, what you ask your users to take should be clear.

You want to make sure to spend enough time on the page’s design, which includes copywriting. Squeeze pages must be well-designed, easy to navigate, aesthetically pleasing, and have a high-quality copy.

A landing page is also a great tool for an A/B test because you can only send the users who visit the page to one place. There are no other distractions, making it an ideal tool for testing things like price, design color, length of copywriting, web design style, etc.

What is a landing page (also called squeeze pages)?

landing page squeeze pages

When someone visits a landing page, it is best to know what to do. However, making the user understand the website’s goal can be hard.

The easiest way to tell them would be with words, pictures, or both. Whatever you do, make sure you clearly understand what they should do.

Landing pages are single web pages that usually only have one thing on them—an action button that leads to another page.

For example, if you want people to sign up for your newsletter, you’ll have a button at the top of your squeeze pages that says “Subscribe.”

What are landing pages?

They are one of the marketing industry’s most misunderstood and underutilized tools.

Landing pages, also called “squeeze pages” (referring to the process of “squeezing” a lead by landing them on a landing page), are a single web page that usually only has one thing on it- an action button- which will lead you to another page.

Bad design, clickbait, and lack of clear action are common landing page no-nos.

Don’t make landing pages too wordy because you’ll overwhelm your visitors with information, leading them to leave the landing page before finding out what they should learn or do there. You don’t want your landing page visitors to bounce (leave your site) as soon as they land on the landing page. It would be nice if they took action instead!

It’s important to optimize landing pages by ensuring that they have good SEO practices, keywords, and a content marketing strategy. Finally, driving traffic to squeeze pages will help your landing page succeed.

  • The landing page tone and the copy must be conversational to sound direct.
  • Design landing pages in a simple, aesthetically pleasing way
  • That focus on keywords/content marketing when optimizing for SEO
  • Good ways to drive traffic are split tests or social media campaigns.

Anyone can benefit from squeeze pages because they are direct and clear about what the user needs to do.

Landing pages are especially great for marketing campaigns where you want people to take one particular action (e.g., signing up for a newsletter). Still, squeeze pages also work well for websites that offer a single product or service because they let users know exactly what you do right away.

Who should be using landing pages?

Anyone can benefit from squeeze pages because they are so direct and clear about what the user needs to do.

Landing pages are especially great for marketing campaigns where you want people to take one particular action (e.g., signing up for a newsletter), but squeeze pages also work well for websites that offer a single product or service because they let users know exactly what you do right away.

Why use landing pages?

Why use landing pages

Landing pages are great for marketing campaigns because they encourage your readers to take action. They work well if you have a single product or service you want the user to know about.

Landing pages are designed to help build your email list.

What landing pages are not for?

Landing pages are not for your homepage, backlinks/resources page, or anything with no call-to-action.

Landing pages should be single web pages with one main goal. For example, you can use sales pages to promote blog posts, but if the landing page is about getting people to subscribe to your newsletter, you would want to ensure that the blog post has nothing else besides a “Subscribe” button.

Landing page vs sales page If you were wondering whether sales pages and sales pages are the same thing, they’re not!

landing page focuses on a single action – e.g., signing up for a newsletter – while a sales page encourages users to buy something through a link. A landing page is a single web page for a marketing campaign, while a sales page is designed to sell something.

Action vs. Information landing pages

Information pages are just that – information-based. These web pages have more than one goal, and they’re designed as knowledge bases rather than as persuasive landing pages intended to convince people of something.

In other words, web pages encourage the reader to take action (e.g., sign up), while information sales pages guide finding solutions (e.g., FAQ).

If you still aren’t sure what web page or sales page you should use, then think about who your target audience is and how it would benefit them if they took the action you want them to take.

When designing a landing page, errors to avoid

designing a landing page errors to avoid

It is very important to avoid making these errors when creating a page. Otherwise, the user might not trust you and leave the page.

Bad design

The bad design has nothing to do with how it looks or how pretty it is. Rather, bad design means that the website is not user-friendly.

Clickbait

Clickbait means that the web page is designed to trick you into clicking on something so that it might be appealing, but when you click on said link, it takes you somewhere else. For example, the link’s headline may say “10 Reasons Why You’ll Get Rich if You Click Here!” but when you click, it takes you to a donation page for starving kids.

No clear action

The user should know what they should do on the page, which is why you should clarify that. If there is no clear action, then readers may get confused and leave the page.

First, you will need to create the landing page. You should start by writing down the goal of the landing page. What questions do you want to be answered on the landing page? What would be your page benefit/solution? What are some landing page tips you can provide for web page copywriting?

After designing your landing page, optimizing it with good SEO practices is important.

Keyword research and content marketing are good places to focus when doing this. After that, it’s time to drive traffic to your web page.

You can do that in several good ways by split-testing pages or creating page campaigns on social media.

What is a thank-you page?

What thank-you page

A thank-you page is a landing page you use to collect email addresses in exchange for something. For example, if you’re running a giveaway, you might have a landing page with all the details about the contest and one big button at the bottom that says “Enter Now!”

By landing users on this page, they can enter their email addresses. The landing page captures their email address so that they are automatically entered in the draw when the winner is announced.

  • a web page can be used to collect email addresses if a “thank you” page is created
  • landing pages work best for giveaways and campaigns with a single action in mind (e.g., sign up, share)

Landing pages are extremely useful for marketing strategies because they simply direct users on what they should do or find out on the landing page

Sales pages have only one goal, meaning page visitors will almost always take the intended action.

  • landing pages must be easy to scan and understand without needing much explanation
  • web pages should be visually appealing through both images and text
  • landing page tone and the copy must sound direct but conversational
  • “good SEO practices” refers to optimizing through keywords and content strategy
  • squeeze pages are useful for any marketing campaign because they direct users on what to do next

Anyone can benefit from landing pages because they are simple, straightforward, and clear about what the user needs to do.

Landing pages work especially well for campaigns with a single action in mind, making it easier for web page visitors to take the intended action. Those page visitors are also more likely to complete their goal than those who land on websites with multiple options or links.

How to optimize landing pages

optimizing landing pages

Optimizing landing pages is important to help with SEO and stay on top of your landing page visitors’ needs.

Remember, landing page visitors will only take the intended action if the page makes sense and is easy to scan and understand. Tone and copy should also be conversational but direct.

It’s also important to drive traffic to pages through social media campaigns or split tests.

What you should avoid at all costs:

  • Make sure that web pages are appealing visually when they use images and text in an aesthetically pleasing way
  • Landing pages should direct users on what to do next – web page visitors are more likely to take the intended action if only one option or button exists.
  • Remember that the page tone and the copy must sound direct but conversational.
  • Optimize landing pages with keywords/content marketing for SEO purposes
  • Ensure that you have just one goal – this will ensure that page visitors are directed toward their intended action.
  • Drive traffic to pages through social media campaigns or split tests
  • Eye-catching headline
  • Numerous bullet points describing features and benefits (sales pitch)
  • Pictures of the product or service
  • Sign up form on a web page with enticing offers
  • One call to action, so page visitors know what to do next (no confusion)
  • Make sure it is appealing visually when they use images and text in an aesthetically pleasing way

Make sure you use some of these tips when creating your page! They can be really powerful if done right.

A huge mistake people make is not testing them out enough before they start using pages.

Always remember sales pages are useful for any marketing campaign because they direct users on what to do next.

Anyone can benefit from pages because they are simple, straightforward, and clear about what the user needs to do.

Also, web page visitors will only take the intended action if the web page makes sense and is easy to scan and understand.

Leadpages is an above-average landing page software tool. I think it’s a strong form creator and is the cheapest option! Plus, it’s easy to use.

The problem is the design and editing. You can’t get pages to look as you want them to. The editor is a little clunky, and the templates aren’t perfect, like Instapage or Unbounce. The product of your work will look like a “Leadpage,” not a beautiful, professional web page.

However, there’s no question, Leadpages will deliver you higher ROI on your campaigns. If you’re a small business, Leadpages may be your choice.

Instapage

Instapage is the most functional, user-friendly, high-performing, easiest, and powerful landing page software. It requires no code to operate and is perfect for large businesses and mom-and-pop ecommerce shops. It’s particularly awesome for Google Ads and Facebook Ads specialists.

Instapage has 300+ Capterra reviews, more than any other landing page builder. It allows you to customize pages fully and integrates with every software you might already use.

As teams and agencies scale production, built-in visual collaboration helps speed up design reviews by allowing users to comment, provide feedback, and resolve issues. This ultimately eliminates time-consuming bottlenecks inherent in design reviews.

General FAQs

What landing page should I create?

The landing page you create should be different for each landing page niche. Some landing pages are specific to your company, others are generally designed to capture user information, and some squeeze pages offer prospects the opportunity to subscribe to an e-newsletter or blog post. Defining any landing page’s outcome is important before you start building it.

Does the landing page conversion rate increase with word count?

No. The landing page conversion rate increases with landing page quality. BIG MISTAKE! You’ve constructed a squeeze page, and it’s time for the A/B testing! Research shows that landing pages perform better when tested against each other, making one (or more) of the most successful in getting conversions from visitors who land on your site.

How to design landing pages better than my competition?

No matter what type of landing page design you choose – avoid using too many elements because too many things distract readers from your main points. And remember that content is king! Keep visitors on your site by optimizing for conversion with persuasive copywriting, effective headings, relevant illustrations, and more!

Should you use a landing page tool or build the landing page yourself?

Landing pages tools are one of the most useful squeeze pages design crafting utensils in your web page toolkit. You can use landing page builders when you want to create a web page from scratch, but there’s not always a need for this when software handles it for you.
