Shopify Pros:

  • Shopify is a great way to reach new customers. It allows you to reach people all over the world with a single campaign and vice versa.
  • It’s a user-friendly platform, so it makes it easy for new businesses to create products without extensive knowledge of technology or design.
  • As a “Software as a Service (SaaS),” it frees business owners from the task of managing servers, databases, or any other technical support.
  • Shopify Stores is free up to $2000 in sales – which means you’re not limited based on your budget. This is great for brands who are just starting and need to test out their products without investing too much capital.
  • It has robust integration with third-party and Shopify Store apps like SharpSpring, MailChimp, Constant Constact or Quickbooks Online that will save you time and effort compared to doing things manually.

Shopify Cons:

  • Shopify only offers a limited range of design themes – so your website might look very generic if you go with one of these options. If aesthetics are important to your brand’s image, you might need to consider using Shopify plus.
  • Although Shopify Stores have many features out of the box, they have been developing their platform at a slower rate than some competing platforms. It may take them longer to implement newer features as they develop them – so you might miss out on your favorite new app if it’s only available on another ecommerce platform.
  • While tons of third-party apps can integrate with Shopify, not all of these integrations work as well as intended and require extensive testing before going live. This eats into your time and effort – which can be frustrating if these problems aren’t caught until after launch.

Consensus: While Shopify has certain limitations that you should be aware of before committing to Shopify stores, it’s a great platform for entrepreneurs who want a simple and cost-effective solution. It’s not going to hurt your brand image, but if aesthetics are particularly important to your company, you may need to look into other platforms.

How to set up a Shopify store

Setting up Shopify stores is very easy and only takes 5 minutes. All you need to do is go to https://www.shopify.com and click “Start your free two-week trial.”

You’ll then be asked to create a username, password, and email address. The next page will ask you what type of store you want; select “I’m not sure yet.” Click Get Started, and Shopify will walk you through the process of setting up your account and store!

  1. Click Begin Setup on the next page and follow the instructions on the screen.
  2. Enter your company name (or choose something from Shopify’s suggested list), enter an email address where we can reach you, input your credit card number and billing information, and input your billing name.
  3. You will now be required to enter the following:
    1. Your website’s address (website building starts here: https://www.shopify.com/dashboard/domains)
    2. A business telephone number
    3. The currency you’d like to use; Shopify stores can convert it for you based on its current market value
    4. Whether or not you wish to enable Google Analytics tracking (recommended for most merchants as it provides critical data about your customers and site usage patterns). Enabling Analytics adds a small tracking script that we need to insert into your website’s production environment. Learn more about this feature at https://support.google.com/analytics/.
  4. Once you’ve entered the above information, click “Start my free trial.” Shopify will prompt you to create a password for your account and then log in with that password.
  5. Now that you’re logged into Shopify click on the Store button at the top of the page to begin building your store.
  6. The next screen will prompt you to choose a template for your store; select one based on whether or not you want to design an online storefront from scratch (recommended if this is your first time setting up an online store), or if you’d like Shopify to customize something for you (this option makes it easier for merchants who already familiar with e-commerce). Shopify has dozens of beautiful templates to choose from, so take your time and find one that best represents your company’s brand.
  7. Shopify will now prompt you to enter the store name, phone number, store slogan/tagline, and select a location for your business. Again, take some time here! Once you click “Continue,” Shopify will begin building your online store in the background. You’ll be able to see this process in action by clicking on the red “building” bar underneath the Store button at any point during this process.
  8. Congratulations! Your Shopify store is up and running! Now it’s time to start customizing it with products (let us know if you need help adding products).

Conclusion on What is Shopify and How Does It Work

Shopify stores have several features that are beneficial to customer service. This is particularly true if you have a small number of stores. If it is just your company now, but you’re planning on opening more online locations with the same business name, this makes for an easy transition as well.

The Shopify template system also means that your website can look professional without you having to pay for custom design work or have anyone customize the code – something that can be difficult and expensive!

Shopify stores let you choose from hundreds of templates with thousands of possible color combinations so you can find one that looks the way you want for less money than hiring someone else to do it. All the changes are managed through an easy-to-use control panel.

Additionally, Shopify offers a mobile app that allows you to manage your business from anywhere with internet access. This is also really convenient for the customer – you can provide good service no matter where you are as long as you have a smartphone!

The Shopify application program interface (API) makes it easy to add apps and features as well. You just have one login, then find or develop an additional feature to help your store run more smoothly. There are thousands of apps available now, so don’t be afraid to explore the possibilities.

And Shopify accepts major credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal accounts, making transactions quick and simple for customers! People love things that make their lives easier. It’s good to offer more than one payment option, but it’s even better if you don’t require a credit card to order from you.

So Shopify is an excellent ecommerce platform that has many benefits for entrepreneurs who want to start their online store. To make sure all the Shopify reviews look good, though, make sure your customer service is top-notch and take a look at some of the available apps!
