Tensor Processing Units – A Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) is an AI accelerator application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) developed by Google for neural network machine learning using Google’s own TensorFlow software. TPUs are designed to accelerate the performance of linear algebra computation, which is used heavily in machine learning applications. They can also be used for other tasks requiring many floating-point arithmetic, such as natural language processing and image recognition.
