Alpha test: A type of testing that is conducted with a small group of users to identify and fix any major problems before the product is released to the general public.
Pre-production product testing to find and eliminate the most obvious design defects or deficiencies, usually in a laboratory setting or in some part of the developing firmÃs regular operations, although in some cases it may be done in controlled settings with lead customers.
